Luckily, I did get the chance to thank Erica Highberg, the director, who really did her homework in preparation for this reading. Not only did she get the actors talking about the topical nature of the play (they guessed I based the snake-oil politician John Winthrop on Mitt Romney during table work), she pushed them to make big, bold choices -- and that kept the conflict boiling during the reading. Truly, if you get the chance to work with PICT, you are a lucky person.
Hi, all! This post is basically a public thank you to the kind folks at Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre for a lovely reading of my full-length play Lively Stones. The reading happened on Sunday and was broadcast on Liplo, so to anyone who watched it over the Internet, hopefully you got the same great impression I did while physically being there! I thought the cast did charming work with the characters, particularly the gentleman playing William and the lady playing Anne. I didn't get to congratulate many of them for their engaging choices, so I add the actors to my list of thanks, and send huzzahs to the staff at PICT for all their hard work!

I write with some exciting news today. First, two announcements for upcoming performances of my work in 2012!
Announcement Number 1: In April, my short play "Captain Incredible Versus The Girlfriend" will be performed in Toronto, Canada -- by Monkeyman Productions, Toronto's premier geek theatre companyl the play will be one of four produced as part of their Simian Showcase. Fellow OU playwright/guest comics blogger Nick Philpott will also have one of his ten-minutes performed, which means this showcase'll provide a great opportunity to see OU theatre on an international scale. If available, support this fantastic company of fellow nerds! They've got an exciting mission, and they're boatloads of fun to work with! Details can be peeped here, for any North American folks who are in the area and want to attend. Announcement Number 2: On March 18, 2012, at the Pittsburgh and Irish Classical Theatre, my full-length play Lively Stones will be given a reading as part of the PICT/Pitt New Classics Play Reading Series. A director from PICT and the students at the university there will be performing the play in the Charity Randall Theatre at 7 pm. If you can't make it to the reading, you can stream the reading online off PICT's website. For more details as they become available, peep at this. And one final exciting bit of business! Renovations galore: Thanks to my friend and colleague Jeremy Sony for providing fun comic book renditions of my banners, which will now be a permanent feature on this site. A shout out is also due to Hannah Leigh VanBrunt and Joel Stigliano, the talented photographers who took the pictures featured in my epic bio page banner. Enjoy the new website, folks! And let everyone involved how much we appreciate the donation of their time and extension of their talents. |
